Georgios Bourtzis - Main Chair
Hello everyone! My name is Georgios Bourtzis and I am 21 one years old. I am from Volos and I study Law in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. I am very interested in greek and global history as well as foreign languages. It is my aspiration to become a diplomat in order to promote the humanitarian ideals and strive for a prosperous and utopian society, relieved from the horrors of war and poverty. This is the reason I like participating in MUNs, thus understanding how international organizations and bilateral relations work- or, even better, how they ought to work. I started my MUN experiences in 2015 and have since participated both as a delegate and a board member. The DISEC committee is a favorite of mine, famous for instilling heated debates and fruitful discussions. That is what I expect from this year’s ArcMUN2018 and I am confident you will all fill the requirement.

Petros Karakanas – Co-Chair
Petros Karakanas was born and raised in Thessaloniki. He has graduated from the 14th high school of Thessaloniki and he is currently in the third year of his studies in the faculty of Law in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The sectors of Law which attract him most are Criminal Law, Public International Law and International Criminal Law, while he is also charmed by Diplomacy and its influence on bilateral and international relations of states. His MUN experience began when he was 16 years old and since then he has participated in MUNs both in high school and university level in Greece and abroad. Highly social and co-operative, he does not miss any chance to meet new people under any circumstances. Among his interests are classified painting, traveling, mainly abroad, cooking, photo shooting, sports and music, since he is taking classical singing courses and singing in choirs as a tenor. He is extremely excited about chairing for the first time a committee and his ambition is to make ARCMUN’s DISEC 2018 the best committee ever.

Hello everyone! My name is Sami Mosios, I am 17 years old and I am from Thessaloniki, Central Macedonia. My passion, which erupted recently, is studying science and being an advocate for scientific literacy and secular humanism. It is my firm belief that it is one of the very few pathways to a society that has shed the skin, that is eroding human progress and prevents us from evolving as a global civilization. One of the reasons I cherish the MUN and support it, is that it aids more young kids every year to understand that we need to build the future we want to have. A quote from the late astronomer Carl Sagan: "In all this vastness, in all our obscurity, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves." In the DISEC committee we expect a debate that will bear fruitful results and personally I aspire that from ArcMUN2018 will emerge a generation that is informed and aware, dedicated to being the ones that bring a new dawn to humanity, our humanity.
