COMMITTEE AND TOPIC INTRODUCTION

Topic: The Yalta Conference

Pursuant to the end of World War II and acknowledging the failure of the League of Nations to guarantee the establishment of sustaining peace among nations, Churchill, Roosevelt and Stalin will be meeting in Yalta, Crimea in early February 1945, so as to discuss Europe’s future after Germany’s defeat. In this year’s ArcMUN, the Convention’s goals will be facilitated via the participation of an additional number of 13 world leaders, politicians and military officials. Indeed, “the Big Three” alongside with their international counterparts will be participating in the Yalta Conference – also known as “Crimea” or “Argonaut” Conference – in order to ensure Germany’s complete surrender, achieve stability in Europe and rebuild devastated nations right from scratch. Collectivity and collaboration are now more significant than ever before; yet world leaders continue to struggle with internal unrest and ongoing tensions. Thus, not only are you required to come up with viable solutions so as to establish stability in Europe once and for all but you will also be challenged to hold your nations united in an era that has proven multiple times that everything especially peace per se – is constantly in the risk of falling apart.

At this point, it should be highlighted that the Historical Committee of ARCMUN is a Crisis Committee. Therefore, apart from the Committee's topic, it will have to discuss about and find an immediate solution to issues and events that will arise during the days of the conference. More information will be provided in the Study Guide.
