UNITED NATIONS EDUCATIONAL, SCIENTIFIC & CULTURAL ORGANIZATION (UNESCO)

Picture

Ioanna Zarogianni

I am Ioanna, a 10th-grade student at the 1st High School of Pylaia. Having participated in five MUN conferences so far, I have been deeply inspired by the values and cooperation that Model United Nations promotes. Now serving as a Chair for the second time, I am eager to continue guiding debates with the same passion, composure, and inclusivity that first inspired me as a delegate. MUN has always been a place close to my heart where strangers become teammates and ideas turn into friendships within just a few days. As UNESCO Chair, I am truly
thrilled to be joining the Board this year and addressing the topic “Safeguarding Cultural Heritage in Regions Affected by Armed Conflict.” In addition to sharing this unique experience, I am looking forward to meeting all delegates in person and working together to create an atmosphere that is inspiring, respectful, and collaborative, while upholding the unifying spirit of the United Nations.

Savvas Sarafidis

Greetings to all, I am Savvas Sarafidis and I am a 1st grade student at the High School of Aristotle College. From a young age, I have been passionate about politics, diplomacy, and international law, always seeking to understand how nations collaborate to promote peace and justice. Having participated on various leadership programs, including the Harvard Model Congress and Teen Business School, I have developed strong communication, leadership, and problem solving skills all of which hold a key role within the MUN community. These experiences have deepened my interest in global affairs and inspired me to engage actively in discussions about international cooperation. It is with great respect and a true sense of honor that I will be serving as the Chair of the UNESCO Board this year. UNESCO plays a crucial role within the Model United Nations by promoting education, preserving cultural heritage, and protecting the identity and culture of regions affected by armed conflicts.
